Mama Makeka House of Hope (MMH Hope) is a charitable
Non-Governmental Organization established in memory of Mama Makeka Rebecca.
The mission of MMH Hope is to promote, advocate, and support
Health, Education, and Community Organizing/Empowerment Initiatives
among the underserved populations of Africa, the Caribbean and Central
Valley of California, USA.
Mama Makeka House of Hope is committed to the advancement of
existing services and assisting in the development of new initiatives.
Specifically, Mama Makeka House Hope is committed to the following
objectives:
- Promote, advocate, and support community-based health care
initiatives
with special attention given to HIV/AIDS, mental health
emphasizing training in post-war/trauma counseling, provision of
medical equipment and supplies among the underserved populations of
Africa and the Caribbean.
- Promote, advocate, and develop HIV/AIDS and Violence Prevention
initiatives in Central Valley of California focusing on the Community
of Colors.
- Promote, advocate, and support capacity building initiative for
training
institutions in Africa and the Caribbean. Special attention to
be given to school equipment and supplies, curriculum development,
continuing
education, and building rehabilitation.
- Explore and provide opportunities for exchange and short term services in international and mental health, and education.
Encourage and assist with capacity building, and leadership through
scholarship and research, and job training and creation.
